Adam Ant will top the bill on the Sunday night at Galtres Festival, with Billy Bragg, Seth Lakeman, and The Men They Couldn't Hang.
Adam and the Ants dominated the charts after their appearance on Top of the Pops in October 1980. Kings of the Wild Frontier was a huge success and was in the charts for 66 consecutive weeks and was Number 1 for 12 of them.
This followed years of hard work which started whilst Adam was at Art College - he and some friends formed Bazooka Joe and his Rhythm Hotshots. With Adam on bass, the group played around North London and in late 1975 the Sex Pistols supported them. It was the Pistols' first ever gig, and within a year the “Punk” phenomena had swept through the country. The Ants came into being shortly after and within three years Adam and the Ants had become a household name.
With an Ivor Novello award for the Stand & Deliver single (five weeks at the top spot), A Brit Award for the Kings album and a Grammy nomination, Adam concentrated on the United States and for the next few years was almost constantly on tour. Adam also took up the chance to pioneer as a VJ (Video Jockey) for the then new MTV; a natural progression for Adam considering his cinematic music videos. Next, Adam concentrated on acting and appeared in numerous films and American TV shows. The 90s saw Adam spending time on music again with the release of more successful albums and singles.
Adam returned to perfoming live in 2010 and has been playing to sell out audiences with his new band The Good, The Mad & The Lovely Posse.
