Europe’s largest open air theatre today announces the surprise revival and partnership between two of North Yorkshire’s most talked about music promoters fusing indie, pop and rock as well as folk and world music plus muchmore across 2 days

 The globally famous Scarborough Fair is revived this year at North Yorkshire’s most spectacular music venue. Welcoming the collaboration of Beached and Musicport, two of North Yorkshire’s most respected music event promoters, Scarborough Fair will take place on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th August. Offering the best in indie, pop and rock as well as folkand world music plus much more to be announced soon, further securing Scarborough Open Air Theatre as a must-see music and entertainment destination in the UK. Tickets go on sale Wednesday 20th July 2011.

Today, Scarborough Open Air Theatre is proud to announce the partnership between Yorkshire Coast’s legendary live music event Beached, along with long-standing music event promoter Musicport for the return of the historic Scarborough Fair.

Ten years from its birth, Beached is back after an 8 year history offering the biggest free music event across the whole of the Yorkshire Coast attracting over 35,000 people each year. Having gained a reputation for bringing household names and launching brand new talent, the 2011 Beached Reunion will bring to Saturday’s Scarborough Fair an array of the best in new music with a line-up including many previous headliners and a focus on local and breaking talent to the magnificent stage. Acts to be announced on Wednesday.

Sunday’s Scarborough Fair will be programmed by the hugely successful and established Musicport festival bringing the best in world music to the spectacular venue. Having successfully grown over the last 8 years and attracting major names such as The Buena Vista Social Club and Toumani Diabate, Scarborough Fair will undoubtedly present a plethora of the most exciting and captivating talent. Musicport joins forces with the connoisseurs in everything folk with Graeme Merifield of Wychwood Festival offering a line-up crammed with the most talented and established names from the increasingly popular scene. Together, Sunday’s Scarborough Fair line-up is one that must not be missed. Acts to be announced on Wednesday.

For a limited time from Wednesday 20th July until Sunday 24th July, local residents will have the opportunity toexclusively purchase early bird tickets for Beached on Saturday 13th July at £10 only. From Monday 25th July, ticketswill be priced at £15. Musicport tickets will be priced at £25.

Mike Lynskey, Festival Organiser since 2001 said, “I’m so happy we’ve been able to bring Beached back.It’s been a huge part of my life and was a very hard decision in 2009 to call it a day. We were approached b yApollo who run the Open Air Theatre at the end of 2010 to put Beached into the venue, and we’ve been working since then to put the show together. I’m very happy to be part of the brand new Scarborough Fairand look forward to many more years of Beached”.

Scarborough Open Air Theatre is proud to play host to a season of some of the most diverse and exuberant music events spanning across the months of July, August and September and firmly securing this spectacular venue as the must-visit musical destination of the summer. After a stunning multi-million pound refurbishment in 2010, asuccession of stellar performances are here in planned to the Yorkshire Moors with something a little special and thus the Scarborough Open Air Theatre is reborn.

Scarborough Fair takes place Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th August at Scarborough Open Air Theatre anddoors open at 12 noon.Early-bird tickets for Beached will be priced for a limited time at £10 for local residents from Wednesday 20th - Sunday 24th July. Tickets will then be priced at £15.Musicport tickets are priced at £25.
