Bearded Theory has unveiled an exciting line up for Thursday's opening party, featuring diverse acts that set the stage for the following three days. The opening party will include performances by English punk duo SOFT PLAY, Dublin garage noise quartet SPRINTS, fusion ensemble Dutty Moonshine Big Band, dream-pop group Bleach Lab, Australian metal septet Battlesnake, queer-punk trio Grandmas House, indie-rockers Slaney Bay, DJ Chris Hawkins of BBC 6 Music, and Celtic dub-punk folk group Tarantism. These acts will kick off the festivities at the festival's main stages, Convoy Cabaret big top, and Maui Waui stages.
Bearded Theory emphasizes the significance of Thursday's opening party, describing it as the perfect way to kick off an incredible weekend. Returning favourites like Soft Play, Tarantism, and Dutty Moonshine Big Band will share the stage with exciting new acts, creating an eclectic mix for festival-goers.
The main line up for the festival includes iconic rock band Jane’s Addiction, indie rockers Dinosaur Jr., Australian punks Amyl and The Sniffers, synth-pop ensemble Future Islands, post-punk duo Sleaford Mods, and electronica brothers Orbital. Other notable names include Bob Vylan, New Model Army, Wargasm, Gentleman’s Dub Club, Ferocious Dog, Panic Shack, English Teacher, Hotwax, Ibibio Sound Machine, Pip Blom, Divorce, and more.
A new addition to the festival is a dedicated dance stage, reflecting the importance of dance and electronic music in alternative communities. Main stage headliners Orbital will be joined by remarkable acts such as Mercury Award-winning junglist Roni Size, ambient house pioneers The Orb, acid house phenomenon's 808 State, psychedelic dance influencers System 7, and global DJing duo Utah Saints.
For families attending with children, Bearded Theory brings back the Festival School initiative in the Children’s Village. Enrolled children from Reception to Year 10 can participate in a range of educational classes, covering subjects like budgeting for a music festival, PE classes by Derby County FC, Design & Technology for creating souvenirs, Slime making, English, Mindfulness, Healthy Eating, and First Aid. The festival aims to provide an educational experience beyond traditional indoor spaces.
