Festival season wraps up this weekend with Bestival which most would class as the final farewell to letting off steam in an open field for 2011...in fancy dress.

Silly costumes aside, this year’s festival dresses up quite nicely when it comes to disability access and without blowing our own over-ego trumpet ABLE2UK would like to think he had some weight towards that piece raised wood guests will find in the Big Top this year. Over the years we have been advising the organisers that a disabled platform would be suited for their indoor entertainment and with a drizzly weekend forecast on the horizon we are pleased to announce Bestival 2011 will have a viewing platform near the main stage and the big top.

Wheelchair users should tackle the ground without too much difficulty although rain will make the terrain a bit more of a challenge. The good news is that the stages are quite close to each other so you won’t have to travel too much distance to catch the likes of The Cure, Primal Scream or the recent winner of the Mercury prize, PJ Harvey. There’s also a special appearance from Bjork to round off the weekend.

You can pitch your tent in the disabled campsite which can be found at the same level of the main stage, please note guests to this area require arriving through a special entrance by car. You are also free to camp anywhere else on site in the main camping areas, just bear in mind this may include quite a long, and in some cases bumpy, journey. If you wish to camp with a group of mates in the disabled campsite please make sure you notify the organisers in advance.

Medical staff, accessible loos and stewards will be on hand throughout the weekend if you require their assistance and we will be reviewing a headline act from the festival online next week before we pack up our camping equipment for the winter months ahead.Bestival 2011 - Access Information
