Lakefest have announced they are inviting unsigned acts the opportunity for opening the festival, the finalists, who will be chosen by the organisers, and eventual winner will be chosen by the public.

Lee Martin, Lakefest Director, said: “We’re passionate about showcasing musical talent. We know that there are so many incredible individuals and bands out there that deserve recognition and we want to give them a platform. The winner of the ‘Open Lakefest Livewire’ will open Lakefest 2016 at Eastnor Castle this August. It’s free to enter and we invite all unsigned acts to apply – whatever the genre and whether you’re a one-man-band or a group”.

To enter the competition bands should submit a video of a live performance to [email protected].

Lakefest is an award winning intimate family festival with high quality entertainment for young an old with a great selection of local food and drink.

Artists booked to appear at this year's Lakefest are: Primal Scream, We Are Scientists, Starsailor, The Coral, Newton Faulkner and Afro Celt Sound System, Big Country, Molotov Jukebox, Secret Affair, Nahko and Medicine for the People, Duke Special, Roving Crows, The Cracked, Erica, Foreign Affairs, Jasper in the Company of Others, Altern8 and Baby D.
