Coca-Cola, the Presenting Partners of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay, will be onsite at The Big Beach Ball festival helping to spread the magic of the Olympic Games well beyond London, inspiring communities across the UK to participate in the biggest celebration of world sport.

Festival goers will also be able to hold the torch and have their pictures taken with it – a very unique experience for people in the local and Scottish community to get a flavour for London 2012. The Olympic Torch joins The Big Beach Ball ahead of the official Olympic Torch Tour, where the official 2012 torch will head to Aberdeen for the Torch Relay in June.

One of the festival organisers - Claire Clark said “Having The Torino Olympic Torch at The Big Beach Ball is a massive coup for us. It’s a brilliant event in itself for Aberdeen, and a fantastic opportunity for the local community to see an Olympic Torch at what is a really special event for us and the whole city.”

The bill for the festival features over 40 local and international acts, including a headline DJ set from FRIENDLY FIRES, alongside DERRICK CARTER, SLAM, BWANI JUNCTION, TIGER & WOODS, THE LITTLE KICKS, FRIDGE MAGNETS, BIGFOOT’S TEA PARTY, ONEMAN and MUNGO’S HI-FI among others. Spread across 5 stages, an outdoor quarter, a cider garden, Red Bull Event Truck and a vintage and craft market hosted by local designers, artists and jewellery makers; the one day festival hopes to be a one day spectacular that offers something for everyone.

Steve Morris, another of the festival organisers’ also commented, “We are really excited for the festival and the addition of a genuine Olympic Torch is an incredible prospect for Aberdeen. It’s amazing that we’ve been given the opportunity to show off and let the public get hands on with a piece of Olympic history.”

There are 9 days and counting left, before the arrival of an event which could change the face of Aberdeen’s music and culture scene as we know it. Tickets are only £27.50 for 11 hours of fun! Make sure your summer starts with The Big Beach Ball…
