Cornbury Festival reveals its latest wave of acts.
Eighties popstars Deacon Blue will play the main stage on Saturday 2nd July, and former Dr. Feelgood guitar legend Wilko Johnson will frighten The Saw Doctors on the second stage on Sunday 3rd July. Also performing on Sunday 3rd July will be '70s folk rockers and festival veterans Stackridge, who were the opening act at the first ever Glastonbury in 1970.
Deacon Blue's 1989 album 'When The World Knows Your Name' topped the UK album chart and produced five top 30 hits. While the Scottish pop icons were topping the UK charts, punk cult hero Wilko Johnson was defining his characteristic raw punk sound with the likes of Dr. Feelgood. These acts are added to a bill which includes perennial rockers Status Quo, singer songwriter James Blunt, 70s legends The Faces and Kinks frontman Ray Davies.
But of course, Cornbury is not just about the veterans of the music world! Representing exciting new talent are Ben Montague, Pete Lawrie, and Alice Gold, plus Birmingham's country pioneers The Toy Hearts, London rockers Saint Jude, and local heroes The Chipping Norton Allstars.
Once again we have been able to bring together some of the most experienced treasures alongside lots of fantastic new artists - a great blend of legendary bands, up and coming new talent, and a heavyweight cast of divas including Cyndi Lauper, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Eliza Doolittle and Cornbury lifetimer Imelda May.
A jam packed programme of children's entertainment will keep your little ones happy for the whole weekend too... circus skills, puppet shows, songs for kids, storytelling, Bhangra Dance, Bollywood Dance, claymaking, willow tunnels, Tin Pan Annie Family Music, funky festival crafts and Tatty Bumpkins Kids Yoga are just some of the delights on offer for children
