Music

We decided at an early stage that we needed a theme for our trip; one that wasn’t just about about cycling 40-60 miles a day and telling the stories of subsequent events. No, we needed a focus, both for ourselves and for you, the reader.

Music is a global phenomenon that dates back to the beginnings of human culture. It can be found in all corners of the earth, in an overwhelming variety of styles. We love it, you love it, and War Child loves it; perfect!

So how will it work? Well, we’re going to cycle around the world hunting for music in all itsdifferent forms. We will be looking at how music plays a part in people’s day-to-day lives and, for ourselves, try and find the ultimate musical experience! We want to explore how music can bring communities together, divide opinions, generate debate, make you dance, make you sad and make you happy. We hope to document this through our videos, musical clips, blogs and photos.

How would we define ‘the ultimate musical experience’? Well, to be honest, we don’t know yet. This magical moment could hit us at any point and we wouldn’t like to speculate to it’s origin. I think this concept will become clearer for both us and you as we cycle on. It’d be interesting to hear your ‘magical musical moments’ too, so please feel free to comment.

This page will soon be updated with much more detail, including our musical likes, past experiences and ways that you, the reader, can interact with this aspect of the trip. Most importantly, it will have clips of the little gems we discover along the way. This is our sponsorship appeal video…
