Entertainments and attractions revealed for The Little Chill, Enchanted Garden andTherapy & Chill

A feast of festival treats in store at The Big Chill; from shiatsu and facials inthe Therapy & Chill field to children’s story telling and street-danceworkshops in The Little Chill, all ages and imaginations will be catered for.A sensory spectacular surrounded by giant butterflies awaits in the Enchanted Garden.

The Big Chill is this year laying on its best ever facilities dedicated to families flocking to the festival. The Little Chill, a festival within a festival, was confirmed as part of The Big Chill’s launch announcement andnow we are happy to unveil further features of this extra special addition to the site.

Open only to festival goers who have specifically purchased a family ticket, the area will featureentertainment laid on especially for younger audiences as well as housing the family camping area andfacilities. Magician Mr Bamboozle and clown Matt Zaz will perform alongside award-winning illustrators andauthors, Hannah Shaw (Evil Weasel, Crocodiles are the Best Animals and The Great Hamster Massacre) and Andy Stanton (the Mr Gum books). Interactive workshops such as drama and dance are set to take place,led by Janine Sharp and 2FaCeD DaNcE. Furthermore a daily carnival-themed parade will set out acrossthe site featuring costumes, flags and masks made by The Little Chillers from that day’s creative artsworkshops. From a giant painting wall to crazy clay creatures there will be plenty of hands-on activities forthe kids to take part in, as well as childhood favourites face painting, a costume box and paper aeroplane flying courses.

Matching the energy levels of any adult festival-goer, The Little Chill audience can also test their skills ofagility at their very own dedicated circus area featuring stilt walking, unicycling, juggling shows and workshops. Add to that rounders matches, Space Hopper races and The Little Chill’s very own Spy School, Pixihoopsound’s Hula Hoop party and the Green String Theory providing live acoustic music from traditional sea shanties to contemporary classics, no young festival goer should have a minute to spare over anaction-packed weekend. There will also be DJ Dads sessions led by Tom Middleton and featuring thefathers of the new generation of Chillers, who will be dropping beats guaranteed to get everyone’s feet, bigor small, stamping. Once everyone is danced out then The Little Chill has the perfect way to unwind with thenightly midnight movies.

Toddlers will enjoy their own play area with traditional swing boats whilst a sheltered Pagoda will feature child-friendly Yoga sessions. Even parents may be found enjoying The Little Chill’s Seaside area, if not forthe giant sandpit, adult sized ball pool and deckchairs then for the Caribbean cocktail bar serving non alcoholicdrinks as well as something a bit stronger for the grown-ups.

Making a return in 2011 is the Enchanted Garden, housing a newly re-named and expanded Therapy & Chill field containing relaxing treatments and indulgences. All festival goers are invited to the opening ceremony on Thursday evening. Giant UV butterflies set the theme for this year’s Enchanted Garden with butterfly stilt walkers on hand to guide festival-goers into this secluded area of delights. The Birdcage Stagehoused in a giant gilded birdcage hosts performances from eclectic bands throughout the day and as if bymagic the bands vaporise before your eyes, replaced by a beautiful plumed bird swinging from herprecarious perch. Trapeze and high wire creatures play above you, as the fire dancers and acrobats spinaround you and at the centre the birdcage shimmers and trembles as within the show is about to begin. At the stroke of midnight the cabaret begins hosted by H.P. Lovebox and Mr Tom Baker and featuring the Lux Collective and London’s Late Night Shop Cabaret with bands The Bohemianauts, Kings Size Slim,Marcina Arnold and the Love Rats with DJ’s Nico and Adam Freeland, the night entertainment is not to bemissed, with still more to be announced.

Also within the Enchanted Garden will be the Coyote Moon venue, doubling up as both a sauna and aperformance yurt with artists both day and night. Providing energising sustenance are the Indian flavours of Kolata Street Food Experience and the herbal infusions of The Tea Dragons Love Tent. Add to this itsvery own trapeze show, storytelling, clay workshops from the local Eastnor Pottery and a number of ecothemedrecycled art installations, the Enchanted Garden is a must see for every festival-goer.

Of course the soaring melodies and pumping dance floors of The Big Chill’s main stages are set to providethe ultimate in entertainment, however even the most seasoned festival fan needs to take a break every nowand again. This year, featuring nearly twice the number of practitioners than ever before, the Therapy & Chil lfield will see treatments and indulgences from head to foot on offer. Now a fully fledged member of the Festival Republic family The Big Chill is poised to build further on the successesof 2010. Last year saw an international line-up of some of the biggest selling names in electronic, indie and popmusic and 2011 sees another all-star cast taking to The Big Chill stages including an exclusive UK festivalappearance by Kanye West plus The Chemical Brothers and Rodrigo y Gabriela.
