Plus luxurious VIP hotel accommodation, boutique camping and additional stages
The UK’s most unique boutique luxury festival, Festival No. 6, has revealed its next wave of acts including Richard Hawley, almighty psychedelic rock band Death in Vegas, Gruff Rhys, Kindness and LA indie rockers Local Natives.
Joining headliners New Order, Primal Scream and Spiritualized will also be Field Music, Everything Everything, Beth Jeans Houghton, Alt-J, Cate le Bon, Jessie Ware, Eugene McGuiness, Clock Opera, The Wave Pictures, Gang Colours, Y Niwl, Sweet Baboo and The Whip.
The festival has also announced a delightfully eccentric and eclectic arts and culture programme for the aptly named Estuary Stage featuring the likes of British Sea Power, King Creosote and T.O.Y. The stage, which overlooks the stunning river Afon Dwyryd, has been curated by the acclaimed nature and culture website; Caught by the River. Expect everything from nature talks and walks to rock’n’roll readings and psychedelic sundown sets.
Festival No. 6 is a brand new premium festival concept set in the eccentric surrounds of Portmeirion, where neo-classical architecture collides with sandy beaches and palm trees.
Bands, DJs, musicians and string ensembles will be performing across the entire site, from the historic town hall to the Colonnade gardens to the picturesque bay. The diverse bill ranges from dance to Balearic, funk to folk, seashanties to Welsh male voice choirs. From specially curated stages and dance tents by Electric Elephant and Electric Chair to literary talks by Faber Social, Festival No. 6 has something for everyone.
The sleepy Welsh fantasyland, famous for being the set of cult 60’s TV show ‘The Prisoner’, has never before hosted an event of such breadth and ambition.
Details of the unique accommodation options have also been released. Choices range from the palatial rooms within historic Castell Deudraeth, to individual gatehouses, towers and cottages in the village, all with their own unique character, to luxury yurts, tipis and bell tents. Or you can simply bring your own tent. Wherever you sleep, you’ll wake to stunning views of Snowdonia and the River Dwyryd estuary.
Constructed between 1925 and 1975 by maverick architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, Portmeirion is a wonderfully bizarre and elaborate interpretation of a Mediterranean villa, couched in the waters, mountains and forests of North Wales which make up the festival’s perimeter.
The stylish event will seek to offer an added dimension to the often cluttered and repetitive UK festival itinerary by combining a bespoke line-up of iconic and cutting edge musical acts with a truly unique range of alternative activities.
Attendees will get the chance to enjoy cinema screenings, street theatre, prose and poetry readings, midnight masquerades, cliff-top comedy stages, secret parties, impromptu interactive moments and even participate in cultural lectures and debates.
The rugged Welsh landscape will also offer guests the opportunity to get physical with activities including wild swimming, zorbing, clay pigeon shooting and archery.
Catering for a more refined audience, the festival represents a much-needed alternative for a discerning demographic looking to eschew the less welcome and formulaic aspects of the stereotypical festival experience.
Food and drink options range from an indulgent bite at the pop-up Champagne and Oyster bar to a full dinner at the castle’s long table. A whole host of delicious locally sourced and organically grown meals will be available alongside some special guest ales for those looking to sidestep the usual lager and cider offerings.
Curated by the masterminds behind Snowbombing, The Warehouse Project, Lounge on the Farm, Parklife and the directors of Ear to the Ground Production, and Portmeirion Ltd., the festival places an emphasis on the quality of experience like no other.
An intimate boutique music and arts festival, sculpted for those who enjoy life’s finer things, Festival No. 6 is set to be an enchanting and unforgettable experience.
Festival Director Gareth Cooper said: “We’ve found what we hope will become one of the most outstanding and defining boutique festival sites in the world. It’s a totally jaw-dropping, mind-blowing place, offering a premium event aimed at a slightly more mature and discerning crowd. We’re confident it’s going to be one of the most stylish festivals the UK has ever seen.”
