Renowned folk artist KATE RUSBY is confirmed to perform on The Good Time Guide Stage on Saturday 16th July. Described by The Guardian as “a superstar of the British acoustic scene”, Kate is regarded as one of the most famous English folk singers of contemporary times and has been the recipient of multiple BBC Radio 2 folk awards, including Folk Singer of the Year and Best Album in 2000, Best Original Song in 2002 and Best Live Act in 2006. This will be her first appearance at GuilFest, and she will be performing with an all-star band of 5 musicians – a “who’s who” of the folk scene!
FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND have been announced as Friday night headliners of The Big Cheese Cave at this year’s festival. Formed in Bridgend in 2001, the Welsh rockers have enjoyed huge success over the last decade, performing sell out shows all over the world, with all of their 5 studio albums hitting in the top 40 in the UK albums chart, and 9 singles appearing in the UK top 40 singles chart.
SKINDRED will take the headline spot in The Big Cheese Cave on Saturday night. Fronted by the explosive Benji Webb, Skindred’s musical style mixes rock, punk, heavy metal, hip hop and reggae and the band are famous for their full on live shows and ability to ignite crowds. To date Skindred have released four studio albums and eight singles, with their first album, ‘Babylon’, topping the Billboard Top Reggae Albums Chart. This band are bound to take the roof off The Big Cheese Cave at GuilFest this July. Not to be missed!
The Big Cheese Cave lineup is beginning to take shape with lots more confirmations: MY PASSION, PURE REASON REVOLUTION, ATTACK! ATTACK!, LIBRARY OF JUNE, PINT SHOT RIOT, COMPUTERS and MAX RAPTOR for Friday 15th July; SONIC BOOM SIX, DINOSAUR PILE UP, THE XCERTS, ANZI DESTRUCTION, MARNER BROWN and SUBSOURCE for Saturday 16th July; and REVOKER, EXIT INTERNATIONAL and DEATH FOR THIEVES for Sunday 17th July.
Two new confirmations for Sunday 17th July on The Kane FM presents Funky End Dance Tent are UK hip hop star JEHST and superstar DJ of the moment, BENJI BOKO. Benji has been receiving praise from all over the scene recently, with the likes of Zane Lowe, Rob Da Bank, DJ Yoda and Jaguar Skills all talking about him.
Elsewhere on the site, Alternative rockers, SOUND OF GUNS will be on The GuilFest Main Stage on Saturday 16th July, with CALLING ALL ASTRONAUTS appearing on Friday 15th July. WEYWARD CHILE, SUZIE CLARKE COLLECTIVE, CLAIRE NICOLSON, and THE RHIZOMES will all be on The Good Time Guide Stage, also on Friday.
The brand new VIVE LE ROCK punk and ska stage also has two new acts confirmed. British Jamaican Reggae artist LEVI ROOTS (most famous for his Reggae Reggae Sauce!) will be on Sunday, while British New Wave band, DEPARTMENT S will appear on Friday.
