Honeyfest is the first festival of the year which sets the bar as far as the good times go! Last year the festival sold out in record time creating an incredible demand for a second event.
The inaugural Honeyfest was organised in support of the Barge Inn Community Project - a group of Wiltshire villagers who came together to take over the running of their local pub, helped with a grant from the Big Lottery Fund (BIG).
The project received funding as part of Village SOS – a scheme to inspire rural regeneration across the UK.
The creation of Honeyfest was documented in the primetime BBC1 Village SOS series, broadcast in August 2011. A one-hour programme followed the journey of the Barge Inn Community Project team as they got the pub up and running and launched the festival in a bid to get wider community support for their venture.
Honeyfest prides itself on its community roots and as such does everything it can to support the local area from using local suppliers and staff to helping break new musical talent in Wiltshire in conjunction with BBC introducing.
It is also important that local businesses benefit and this was evident last year with all campsites, B&B’s, hotels sold out along with a lot of the beer in the pubs. This boost to local economy in early spring is a real springboard into summer – not to mention the promotion the area and local amenities receive.
