Big Chill Radio Stage also to host Lee Nelson’s Well Good Party, performances from artists nominated by BBC Hereford & Worcester and much more

2011 sees the first ever Big Chill Radio Stage, with DJ sets from artistssuch as Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor, Maurice Fulton and Bill Brewster, and live broadcasts from BBC Radio 6 Music. Also confirmed are film screenings of PJ Harvey shorts and Beastie Boys: Fight For Your Right Revisited. The Big Chill Radio Stage will also host Lee Nelson’s Well Good Party, a very special cocktail of festival fun and games for The Big Chill.
The line-up on Friday starts with a presentation from BBC Hereford & Worcester, The Big Chill’s ‘home ground’station; five artists selected by local BBC Introducing presenter Andrew Marston perform from 12pm until 3pm.Later in the evening Marston will broadcast his weekly Introducing show live from the site from 7pm. Next up are Nice Up! main man DJ Shepdog, future bass from Tel Aviv's Nadav Ravid, and deep disco stylings from Bristol's Futureboogie duo, all easing the crowd in from the afternoon into the night. At 8pm we welcome Gatto Fritto to theturntables, whose debut album on International Feel is blowing up the world of discerning dance music. From the mighty DFA label, Mock & Toof play live, before handing over to Leo Zero, whose unpredictable and tropical selection of rock, funk and soulful disco has set dance floors alight around the world. Finally, we welcome long-termpal of Big Chill Radio, the DJ’s DJ Bill Brewster of DJhistory and Low Life fame for an immaculate two-hour journey into rhythm and melody.
On Saturday, Big Chill Radio Stage has one ear on the future, and one ear to the past. From London club night Man Make Music, Sketchy joins the dots between bass music and four to the floor. Born in Brighton, raised in Hollywoodand part of the Dublab collective, Kutmah takes time off his touring schedule with LA's Brainfeeder crew to bring his deep and emotional music selection to the stage. Later in the afternoon, prepare for laughs a plenty with Lee Nelson (BBC Three) bringing a special festival party mix of jokes, games, beat-boxing, relay crowd-surfing, sing-alongs and sound clashes. The Big Chill is delighted to welcome back the legendary Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show,which at 7pm sees The Big Chill Radio Stage flick the big switch going live to the nation on BBC Radio 6 Music. At 10pm things get considerably heavier when DJ duo Union bring their high-octane mix of breaks, dubstep and drum'n'bass to the stage. The Hit'n'Run posse from Manchester take over with heavy hitter DJs, along with Rich Reason and your host for the night, Chunky at the controls. Expect nothing less than futuristic dubstep, garage,funk and genres that haven't even been invented yet. The night finishes with blistering drum'n'bass and dubstep from production duo Cutline, whose productions and DJ sets have won fans across the spectrum of dance musicfrom Andy C to Paul Van Dyke. Expect an intense bassbin workout.
Sunday sees Matty J (The Pool) opening up proceedings before another two-hour comedy marathon with Lee Nelson’s Well Good Party. Chris Coco (Melodica) brings his beautiful selection of futuristic electronica from around the world to the stage. Welcoming BBC Radio 6 Music once again, Cerys Matthews and her eclectic playlist will bethe perfect accompaniment to a sleepy Sunday morning both at the festival and beyond, as the show comes live from the Big Chill Radio studio. Also beaming through Eastnor Castle Deer Park and on BBC Radio 6 Music will bethe 6 Mix from 8pm until 10pm on Sunday. With the pick of the richest offerings of DJs on The Big Chill festival’s lineup, those taking to the Big Chill Radio decks are sure to provide an amazing two hours. Guests are to be announced shortly. Not content with fronting Hot Chip and About Group, man of the moment Alexis Taylor is also a tasty talent behind the 1s and 2s. He brings a truly intoxicating and unpredictable sound to the Big Chill Radio Stage, before hot producer Yam Who? steps up, playing music that is as they put it themselves; 'Retro, futuristic with touches of cosmic love dust’. Closing the stage, and the weekend is the incredible Maurice Fulton of Bubbletease Communications. Those that have heard his legendary skills behind the turntables will tell you of his remarkable selection and mixing skills, those that haven't are in for a truly mind-expanding dancefloor experience.
Film at The Big Chill
Two of contemporary music’s biggest and most respected names join The Big Chill, not in person, but in film form fo r2011. The short films made by director Seamus Murphy to accompany the songs from PJ Harvey’s album Let England Shake will be screened in the Big Chill Radio Stage. Having travelled across the country Murphy’s shortfilms are a visual response to Harvey’s equally inquisitive and reflective album which explores where England as anation is today.
Also on The Big Chill Stage’s screen this summer will be Fight For Your Right Revisited, a surreal take on the classic Beastie Boys track (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!) and its music video which were released 25 years ago. The films, written and directed by Adam Yauch envisage past and present versions of the band members,played by a plethora of talent including Seth Rogan, Elijah Wood, Will Ferrell and Jack Black. Susan Sarandon, Steve Buscemi, Kirsten Dunst, Mary Steenburgen, Chloe Sevigny and the Beastie Boys themselves also cameo in this celebration of pop music and pop culture.

Now a fully fledged member of the Festival Republic family The Big Chill is poised to build further on the successesof 2010. Last year saw an international line-up of some of the biggest selling names in electronic, indie and popmusic and 2011 sees another all-star cast taking to The Big Chill stages including an exclusive UK festival appearance by Kanye West plus The Chemical Brothers and Rodrigo y Gabriela.
