The Big Stooshie have become the next in a seemingly never-ending list of major festivals to offer three unsigned bands and acts the chance to perform at their 2012 festival as part of the Live and Unsigned 2012 competition!
The first ever Big Stooshie festival aims to raise £100,000 for Help for Heroes and SSAFA Forces Help, which the organisers hope would make the event the largest Scottish fundraiser for the charities in 2012. The Big Stooshie 2012
The Big Stooshie most recently confirmed that global superstars JAMES will be performing. Joining James over the course of the event are over 50 live performers with some incredible names including; The Hoosiers, The Damned, From The Jam, The Beat, The Boomtown Rats, The Dykeenies, Tommy Reilly, The Complete Stones Roses, Kazabian, Proud Mary, Scarlet Shift and introducing with their first main stage performance Waiting On Jack.
To finalise this massive line-up, another two top headliners will be announced shortly, but the organisers remain tight-lipped about whom they might be.
How to be in with a chance
The Big Stooshie will be picking three unsigned bands or acts to open each day of their festival. This is an opportunity like no other for aspiring bands from Scotland and the UK to play a major festival, on the same line up as major headline acts – surely a day to remember!
Live & Unsigned is the biggest unsigned music competition for original unsigned bands and artists in the UK. It offers the finalists the chance to play at The O2 in London alongside some of the UK's best musicians at Live Fest, London’s biggest indoor festival. There’s also £100,000 worth of prizes to be won, including an additional new main cash prize of £10,000 for the winning act to spend on development.
Auditions will begin in January 2012 and all acts in the competition are auditioned live. Acts that make it through the audition stage will get to perform to industry judges, A & R associates and celebrity guests. Judging last year’s competition and hopefully set to join the panel again in 2012 include; Radio 1 DJ’s Annie Nightingale, Ras Kwame, Tom Deacon and Daniel P Carter; Kerrang’s Alex Baker; and Happy Mondays star Bez.
