The Squatters pair have a strong string of great releases behind them and regularly play the world’s best events like Global Underground, Ministry of Sound, Privilege in Ibiza and many more. They have also received plenty of high level support from the likes of Kissy Sell Out, Micky Slim, Judge Jules andLoose Cannons for their widely influenced house sounds (as far afield as hip-hop, dubstep, d&b) which always manage to get the ‘floor pumping. They have recently mixed the next Kiss da Funk album alongside the nights founder, Rob Tissera, and play Xstatic Festival on Saturday June 30th at Catton Hall in Derbyshire.
How are you? What have been some recent highlights for you?
Were both very well thankyou. Getting excited for Summer now and looking forward to getting over to Ibiza and over to the USA. We are planning a tour out in America and we will be playing some great gigs over there. Including the infamous Avalon in Hollywood on 20th July. We are also happy to be back at Judgement Sundays this summer in ibiza and at Judgement Majorca, So there is a lot for us to look forward to this summer.
I understand you've done an album for Kissdafunk - how did that come about? What was your aim with it?
Kissdafunk is a brand we have both enjoyed over the years as clubbers and we have become good friends with Rob Tissera, Working on a couple of tracks and remixes together. Rob approached us and asked if we wanted to get on board and we were delighted to say the least. At first we were concerned that we would be asked to make a mix on spec and be given the music to mix. Luckily this wasnt the case and we jumped at the chance of putting a mix together that show cases not just our tracks but reflects the kind of sets we put together in the Clubs.
Tell us about your new producers website?. Who is it aimed at?
Well I (Alex) Used to teach in my spare time and when i get the time I still do. I dont think that people teach things easy enough without making people feel like there sucking eggs. And through a series of videos and tutorials I want to get across they key techniques when it comes to making strong dance music. So really this is aimed at anyone who wants to make music. Some people might already know what im teaching but a lot wont. Even if you pick up a small tip from it. It will be worth you checking it out. www.makemusiclike.com
What should people expect at Xstatic Festival ?
A Typical Squatters set full of energy mash ups and a huge mix of tracks. We dont play the same music all the way through our sets. We like to keep people on there toes!
And you're playing Judgement Ibiza again right? Do you play different there than anywhere else?
There are certain tracks we play at certain events all depending on the crowd. But we never know what its gonna be like until we get there so we mash it up on the fly. We NEVER plan sets. We did this once and it felt like there was no feeling in it! So depending on what the crowd are up for and how much vodka we have drank will depend on what your gonna hear.
What else you working on/looking forward to?
Were really busy with all sorts at the moment. We have Just collaborated with Steve Edwards who has worked with the likes of Axwell & Bob Sinclar. We have done a track called Back To The Stars and this has just been signed to New State with one of our other tracks Mushroom So keep your eyes peeled over the summer for them.
