RELEASED ON KITSUNÉ / CO OP – 4TH JULY 2011
HEADLINE DATES ANNOUNCED
Recent signings to the KITSUNÉ label, IS TROPICAL are set to release their debut album on the 4th of July 2011.
‘Native To’, produced by the band with Jimmy Robertson and mixed by Lifelike, features twelve new tracks including recent singles ‘South Pacific’ and ‘The Greeks’ (2 million hits on youtube). Effortlessly swooping from raw pop anthems to lo-fi dance songs with fantastic results, as well as the two singles other standouts include ‘Take My Chances’, ‘Lies’ and ‘Think We’re Alone’.
Formed in London, the IS TROPICAL line up of Gary Barber (Vocals / Guitar / keys), Simon Milner (Vocals / Guitars / Keys) and Dominic Apa (Drums & Programming) first came to international attention with the release of their debut single ‘When O’ When’ on Hit Club Records in January 2010. Produced by Al Al Al (The Big Pink / Klaxons), the single, together with their spectral live shows, saw the band attract the attention of fans and critics alike. They soon signed to French music and fashion label Kitsuné (Digitalism/Two Door Cinema Club) and released there second single ‘South Pacific’ in November 2010.
Around this time IS TROPICAL toured the UK and Europe as special guests of Klaxons, The Big Pink and Mystery Jets and have subsequently grown into a stunning live act. Taking to the stage in their trademark masks, and cloaked by self-made video projections, they improvise constantly changing soundscapes brilliantly combing a late night strobe club show with infectious, sing along pop songs.
IS TROPICAL will play the Underage Festival in August and will headline two shows in London and Manchester this autumn. More Festival shows and live dates will be announced very soon.
