Sainsbury’s is delighted to announce that Kara Tointon and Artem Chigvintsev will be joining the line up at the Jubilee Family Festival Presented by Sainsbury’s’. The winners of Strictly Come Dancing 2010 will partner again on stage for a special Jubilee rendition of the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing hosted by Craig Revel Horwood. They will join 2011 finalist Chelsee Healey who will be partnered for the first time with Strictly professional Robin Windsor. It is also revealed today that the festival will feature exclusive spectacular West End performances specially designed to be performed in Hyde Park for the Jubilee Family Festival on 2 and 3 June. Confirmed to perform the memorable and moving smash hit ‘Electricity’ by Elton John and Lee Hall, is the cast of the multi award winning Billy Elliot the Musical. The festival will also feature The Lion King as part of ‘The Magic of Disney In Concert’ finale and a very special performance by the stars of international hit War Horse, Joey and Topthorn, who become the equine heart of the story. Choreographed especially for the Jubilee Family Festival, this unique and special appearance will also feature the author of War Horse, Michael Morpurgo, alongside both life-sized horse puppets from the show.

It was also confirmed today that one of the long-term members of Chickenshed Theatre, Lissa Hermans has been invited to open the festival on Saturday 2 June with a performance of ‘God Save The Queen’. The event will take place in Hyde Park, on Saturday 2 June and Sunday 3 June 2012 from 10.30am – 7pm daily, with a capacity for 50,000 ticket holders on each day.

The Jubilee Family Festival presented by Sainsbury’s will be the perfect curtain raiser for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations and a wonderful environment for the whole family to soak up all of the entertainment on offer. Visitors to London will not miss a moment of the official Jubilee celebrations, as they are televised on giant screens across the Hyde Park site. Bringing back the British fun of the Village Green, the festival will also feature friendly traditional competitive events like tug-of-war, sack races, egg and spoon, wheelbarrow races and the very British pastime of welly wanging.

This unique celebration will have something for everyone: from the daily finale of ‘The Magic Of Disney In Concert’ starring Princesses and Pirates, an unforgettable, 70-minute Disney concert produced specially to mark the Jubilee celebrations to the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, Billy Elliot The Musical to War Horse, as well as a Kids Zone with 20-minute performances from Fireman Sam, Thomas and Friends and Angela Ballerina. A Parade Ground will not only provide the traditional pomp and circumstance for the occasion but also death-defying stunts from The White Helmets Motorcycle Display Team and a very rare parachute drop into Hyde Park.

Over 30 brands will have free activation areas at the Festival, which includes an exciting range of interactive activities for all the family, such as: Cheeky Monkey Tea Party, Football training with Sports Power League Coaches, Medieval themed castle, Krafty Kids Workshop, Balsam Care Spa, Baking demonstrations with C4’s Baking Mad star, Eric Lanlard and cakemaker to the stars, Mich Turner, Cooking displays with royal recipes and Britain’s Greatest Tournament, presented by medieval themed characters’ to name just a few.

Lissa Hermans, who is blind, has been a member of the Chickenshed Theatre since she was 7 years old, and embodies the philosophy that Chickenshed set forth. The Chickenshed Theatre is a not-for-profit inclusive theatre company that unites people of all abilities to allow them to perform together and to empower one another through creative expression. Lissa who has previously performed for her majesty The Queen has recorded the first ever single release of the national anthem ’God Save The Queen’ to be released for charity on 27 May.
