LadyRock Festival – the first ever women’s festival to come to the North West – has just released details of an exclusive competition to any budding singers and bands.

The competition, ‘LadyRock Idol’, allows entrants to submit a video of themselves performing, with winner being awarded a fifteen minute a slot on the main stage. This stage will host the likes of commercial, acclaimed artists such as New Young Pony Club, Jess Mills and The Arcadian Kicks on the day, this Saturday 26 May.

Jackie Crozier, founder and director of LadyRock Festival said: “Everyone involved in LadyRock Festival is a pioneer of new music and bands and acts that are trying to make a bit of noise on the scene. Our Manchester Stage will showcase numerous undiscovered talents on the day, but we wanted to take it a little further.

I really believe that LadyRock Idol and the main stage slot for an up-and-coming artist or group could provide the huge stepping stone that they need. That is why I really wanted to introduce this competition. It will also be a great way of proving that new and non-commercial acts have the ability to hold a main stage and its audience just as well as the big girls (and boys). I’m really looking forward to receiving the entries.”
