LEOPALLOOZA: A Digital Postcard from Cornwall

From a small party with a burning car to a popular, well-regarded new music festival (with a burning car), Leopallooza has been a labour of love for the 4 year-round organisers and the small crew of devoted friends who help them, all of whom do it for nothing more than the love of a good party.

Non-corporate, fairly-priced and with core values which have helped focus the direction of the festival from the very first event 7 years ago, Leopallooza has garnered a significant and passionate following from attendees.

Leopallooza was recently named as one of the ‘Best Boutique Festivals’ of the summer by The Guardian. It was also shortlisted as the ‘Best Small Festival’ and ‘Best Grassroots Festival’ at the 2010 festival awards.

As well as home-grown talent, Leopallooza attracts bands and musicians from around the world, some who fly in specifically to play this one gig, such is the growing, credible reputation of Leopallooza amongst burgeoning artists and reputable agents.

Bigger than ever, with a third stage, new dance arena and exciting additions across the site, Leopallooza once again stands tall as the number one, non-corporate music event in the Westcountry, bringing the vanguard of new music from the UK and beyond to a lush valley in Cornwall…

“This is the cutest festival” - Eliza Doolittle

“Dubbed ‘The Greatest House Party in a Field’, Leopallooza is just that. If you go once, you will return the next year.” - 247 Magazine

“Leopallooza’s a good’un.” – Zane Lowe, DJ

dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip (Saturday headline) As established festival favourites, dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip will be fairly exclusive to Leopallooza this year, planning just two festival appearances throughout the summer, one of which is us. The very British hip-hop duo went down a storm to a sold out Wembley Arena earlier this year, as special guests for Frank Turner.

“The ability to combine genuine entertainment with such incisive words of wisdom is a real talent and Dan le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip clearly have it in abundance. Ignore them at your peril. 5 stars.” – THE INDEPENDENT

Fenech-Soler Leopallooza are proud to be the only UK show this summer for the critically acclaimed Fenech-Soler as the band are currently preparing their 2nd album. Having dashed past their contemporaries with their debut self-titled album, they have enjoyed sell out tours, prime TV & radio appearances, and notable support slots for Example, White Lies and Kelis along the way.

“Fenech-Soler are heading skyward.” - MIXMAG

“The sort of party tunes that Friendly Fires wish they were making, this band are set for seriously big things.” - NOTION

"Uncommonly adept at writing high-voltage floor fillers, this debut stakes a claim to being the best recent record of its genre. Huge fun." - THE GUARDIAN

Chew Lips (Friday headline) Chew Lips have recently signed to Sony Music, having built up a rock-solid fan base off the back of their ace debut album, 'Unicorn'. Currently preparing to promote the 2nd album, this festival season will be your chance to catch the band before big radio cottons on in a big way! Elle magazine (US) described Chew Lips as the best new act at SXSW in Texas – they’re an addictive, slick and hi-energy band that will close the opening night of Leopallooza with electro-gusto.

“‘Salt Air’ is the filthiest ode to a car crash we’ve heard ever, while ‘Toro’ sits somewhere in the electronic junction between Metric & Metronomy. Looks like this trio are gearing up to be unstoppable: as if anyone would dare to try anyway.” – NME

"Wistful, discoid confections... like Blondie backed by Simian Mobile Disco." – The OBSERVER

Lucy Rose (Sunday headline) Until recently, Lucy Rose was likely better known as an unofficial member of Bombay Bicycle Club, lending her vocals and touring the world with the band. However, her new single has just been given the distinguished status of ‘Hottest Record in the World’ by Radio 1 DJ, Zane Lowe. At just 22, Lucy is already making her own mark on the alt-folk scene with critical blessings – we’re sure Lucy Rose will be a name you’ll come to know. Undoubtedly destined for the bigger stage.

"One of indie music's breakout stars for 2012” - VOGUE
