All added to line-up for Jamie Oliver presents The Big Feastival with Alex James Photobucket

A feast of food and music for all the family, Jamie Oliver presents The Big Feastival with Alex James will take place September 1st and 2nd on Alex’s farm in Kingham, Oxfordshire. A banquet of mouth-watering food paired with the perfect festival sound-track of top-class bands providing music-loving foodies and their kids with a fantastic weekend away at the end of the summer holidays. With early bird tickets selling like proverbial hot cakes, The Big Feastival today announces further talent from the music and food worlds for the 2012 event.

Headlining on Sunday evening will be Sharleen Spiteri and the multi-million album-selling Texas.  Returning in 2012 with their first new material in seven years, Big Feastival-goers are in for something special from Spiteri and co. The enigmatic Guillemots also join the Sunday bill, alongside previously announced Razorlight.

Saturday sees Shingai Shoniwa and Noisettes take to the Main Stage, with sleek pop songs from the London duo steeped in soul and dizzy on disco providing the perfect music for the sundown slot. Classic tracks from Sister Sledge will follow music royalty Lol Crème, Trevor Horn, Stephen Lipson, and Ash Soan who will take to the stage as Producers. Having released their debut album earlier this year, this collective of highly regarded producers and artists have, over the past 40 years, scored over 200 hit singles and albums. Saturday’s bill is completed by the previously announced Gaz Coombes and The Cuban Brothers.

And what better chef and all-round food champion than Jamie Oliver to pull together a line-up of outstanding restaurants, chefs and suppliers to fill festival goers bellies this September? Home of demos, cook-offs and tips by a host of the best chefs in the business, The Big Kitchen will be visited by Italian food aficionado Theo Randall, organic and local food fan Simon Rogan and French bistro extraordinaire Bruno Loubet during the weekend plus Jamie and Alex will stop by.

Pop-up restaurants and food stalls come in lots of shapes and sizes (and tastes!) at The Big Feastival including offerings from the UK’s first barbeque steakhouse Barbecoa, Jamie’s Italian rustic delights, an Indian twist on traditional British meats at the Brindian Roast Bar, home-made pies from the perfectly formed little catering company Piglet’s Pantry, The Van mobile restaurant from Byron serving up proper perfect burgers and award-winning British street food from Cafe Mor (Best of the Best – British Street Food Awards 2011).  More delicious ingredients for this food-lovers festival paradise will be announced soon.

Celebrating three of the things closest to both Jamie and Alex’s hearts – food, music and family – in order to raise funds and awareness for The Jamie Oliver Foundation, The Big Feastival promises to be a boutique festival experience in a picturesque English countryside location just 90 mins from London. Two days of tasty grub, awesome music performances, a chilled out vibe and general all-round, family-friendly, fantastic entertainment.

As Jamie says: “When you get great food, great music and the kids are kept busy, beautiful things definitely happen.”
