Teesside’s colossal music talent will be on display in full force at Stockton Weekender with an impressive 25 local acts on the bill for this year’s festival, running Fri 3 – Sun 5 August.

The festival is a coveted platform for local acts to get their music out to thousands of eager listeners, as well as playing alongside some of the music industries biggest names.

This August acts will share the stage with musical luminaries The Pogues, James, We Are Scientists, Simon & Oscar of Ocean Colour Scene, The Go! Team, Willy Mason, Jake Bugg and an array of other stars.

On Saturday local heroes Young Rebel Set are capping off a month of playing Europe’s top festivals by making a glorious return to the Riverside to play the Main Stage.

Alongside them are “Noisy Northern English Angst Rock”ers The Chapman Family, indie-pop group Collectors Club, history-rock racketeers By Toutatis, indie rockers Randy & The Handstand Band and stage-openers The Panoramic.

The brand new Vela Stage and Tees Active Cabaret Tent will provide additional space for home grown performers to woo crowds.

On Saturday Jimmy & The Sounds, The Broken Broadcast, Palace, Alistair Sheerin and Eeves take to The Vela Stage, with The Bluebuds and Danny’s House providing music on the Tees Active Cabaret Tent stage.

Sunday sees the Weekender debut of the harmonious Cattle & Cane on the Main Stage, showcasing some new tracks to their hometown crowd. Another debutant, Ragmans Jukebox, will open the day.

Weird Shapes (who recently played T in the Park), The Purnells, Different Strokes, The Woven Project and Goy Boy McIlroy help shape the line up on the Vela Stage on Sunday, whilst The Roundels, Stockton to Darlington Ukulele Express, Mercedes and Silver Trees entertain crowds over in the Cabaret Tent.

Festival organiser Paul Burns said “Tees Music Alliance’s purpose is to help develop local music so having such an amazing representation of Teesside talent is fantastic. We wish we could fit more local acts in, the competition has been fierce!” 

More local acts will be showcased at the Georgian Theatre on Saturday and Sunday as part of an Alt Day (Sat) and the Jazz Action Jazz Day (Sun).

Tickets are selling incredibly fast and are priced £20 a day, £30 for the weekend and £50 for camping. Ticket prices will increase further on the gate.
