Looe Music Festival 2012 – major bands hit the sand!
The Stranglers, Levellers and The Skints are just three of the headlining acts performing in Looe this year, with over 60 other superb bands appearing live over the festival weekend including big-name acts such as Showaddywaddy, The Lambrettas, Simon Townshend, If … (most of Sham 69 plus Rick Buckler) and Martin Barre (from Jethro Tull).
With the main stage on the beach you can’t fail to enjoy this year’s event which will take place on the weekend of 21st, 22nd and 23rd September.
See south West favourites Empire of Fools, The Patrick James Pearson Band, The Normals, Ten Zero One and Mad Dog Mcrea. Representing Cornwall expect to see – Kernuyck, Company B, Crowns, Aberfal Oggymen, Charlie Wingfield, and Jessica Sweetman amongst many others. See the website for the full line-up and running order: http://www.looemusic.co.uk/looe-music-festival-bands/
Kernow King joins the line-up: Falmouth comedian and film maker, Ed Rowe, aka Kernow King has built up quite a name for himself around the UK for promoting all of the wonderful things Cornwall has to offer including pasties, glorious technicolour coats, and mizzle. Appearing live at the Adrenalin Quarry stage … he’s sure to have the crowds wanting more!
This year’s festival promises to be a deliver a huge economic boost for Looe when thousands of Levellers and Stranglers fans descend on Looe in an otherwise out-of-season weekend in September.
Economic Boost
“We’ve sold tickets in Canada, France, Belgium, Scotland, Wales and just about every county in England. We’ve already outsold last year’s event by 200% with six weeks to go before the event. Only 15% of ticket sales are local so our local businesses are looking forward to a bumper trading weekend. Looe’s hotels, B&B’s, campsites, restaurants, pubs, taxis, entertainment providers and shops have an exciting opportunity ahead”, festival organiser Tanya Brittain commented.
A ‘not for profit’ event, the festival is funded entirely by donation, sponsorship, and ticket sales. Now a registered charity, Looe music Festival is run by a small team of unpaid (but enthusiastic) volunteers.
“Looe is a town that harvest income from tourism and by delivering a high-profile music festival with fantastic headliners, we hope to attract a whole new generation of staying visitors to Looe. Initially they’ll come for the music … but we hope people will come back again and again for holidays and short-breaks.” Tanya said.
Head for the beach, fill your belly with the finest Cornish pasties, and your ears with the very best in live music. A wonderful family music festival in a magical location … and not a muddy field in sight!
Don’t miss out on this event. Tickets still available.
Ticket prices: Adults £40. Under 18’s £10. Under 5’s £1. Price gives you access to all events, all weekend. For ticket terms and conditions on their website.
