FRIDAY 4th - SATURDAY 5th MAY, 2012

Returning to Dalston for a fourth reign, Land of Kings releases the latest additions to the line-up of cultural treats in store for the Bank Holiday weekend of 4th - 5th May.

Joining the musical roster, there’s stirring goth-rock from O Children, rallying punk-rock from Male Bonding, rip-roaring party noise courtesy of Is Tropical and sweeping harmonia from new Moshi Moshi signings Land Shapes (formerly Lulu & The Lampshades). Elsewhere, Hatcham Social weigh-in, Fever Dream lay down their ethereal post-punk, We Were Evergreen bring their lo-fi-pop and Virginia Wing showcase their jangling indie-melodica. On the DJ front, Kwes hotfoots from his live show to join Micachu on the decks under their collaborative moniker Kwesachu, for an airing of their hotly anticipated Vol.2 Mixtape. Local electronica tastemakers Public Information join the roster of DJs as do Clash, No Pain in Pop, Motorik, Rough Trade and ZTG.

They line-up with the long list of acts already confirmed, including Mercury-winning Speech Debelle, electronic-indies Trophy Wife, folk-duo Slow Club, the psychedelia of Connan Mockasin, and the curveball house of Maurice Fulton. Brit-surf-pop lot Bos Angeles will also be gracing the stage, as will NCZA/Lines, Hall of Mirrors, Hannah Holland, Dreamtrak, Stay+ Factory Floor, My Panda Shall Fly, Night Angles, Bullion, The Horrors DJs and a heap of other slamming talent.

Land of Kings and Jack Daniel’s are pleased to announce that JD Roots will be partners at this year’s festival. Presenting a hot mix of East London acts, JD Roots will honour local talent, playing host at the area’s newest music venue, Birthdays. From the people behind erstwhile music institutions the Old Blue Last, The Alibi and The Macbeth, the new 250-capacity basement club is set to raise the bar for live music in Dalston.

And if that weren’t enough strings to the bow, London Fields Radio will hijack the airwaves with their eclectic charm setting up an onsite studio at the Print House Gallery, while dazzling Dalston Darlings take over the Eastern Curve Garden on Saturday for a day of interactive fun, games and merriment to rival a royal fete. Expect all Englishness – raffles, face-painting, costumes, comedy sketches, games, food and drink, whipped up into a frenzy by host and festival-fav Clayton Wright, (last seen at Land of Kings 2011 marrying couples at the Dalston Boy's Club on the Royal Wedding day) hosting ‘The May Day Queen Contest’.

If cream teas, cakes and savoury snacks from Dalston Darlings don’t satiate your rumbling stomach, there’s a veritable smorgasbord of feasting options available. Why not dip into the Mad Hatter-esque gastronomy of the Walala Greasy Spoon, where traditional grub flavours are revolutionised by chef Kate de Syllas to compliment the tribal, colour-frenzied art of Camille Walala adorning the walls. Or, for more of a grab-and-go snack, burger celeb Yianni Papoutsis with his world-beating Meatwagon will be serving up his famous patties in the Eastern Curve Garden all afternoon on Saturday 5th.
