Every year Tramlines adds even more to the festival experience and this year is no exception. The Tramlines team have pulled it out the bag with not one, not two, but four brand new areas at the UK’s Best Metropolitan festival.

Tudor Square, Weston Park, Vintage Underground and Northern StrEats have all been added to Tramlines, giving festival goers even more for their nothing.

The University of Sheffield and Yellow Bus events has teamed up to bring street theatre to Tudor Square. On Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 July Tudor Square will be bustling with everything from magic to musical comedy and even chainsaw juggling. Prepare to be entertained!

Sarah Nulty, Festival Director at Tramlines said: “Although our main focus music, it is really exciting to have something different to add this year.

The acts in Tudor Square have appeared at festivals across the UK. I’ve seen Granny Turismos at Glastonbury before and they are lots of fun, not to mention local Magician Steve Faulkener who is really talented and a must see. I think Tudor Square is the perfect setting and it is great to use this space as part of the festival.”

Up at Weston Park, the bandstand will showcase an eclectic line up from solo acoustic performances, Indian Jazz, a 9 piece Reggae collective and Indie Pop. As if that wasn’t enough Grannies Parlour Tea Tent will have old school rock and roll from the 40s and 50s, an Elvis inspired safari themed tent and the best cakes in town.

Tramlines have teamed up with Big Live events, who host a weekly show at Weston Park on Sundays, and Age UK, who have been taking Grannies Parlour to festivals across Sheffield to raise money for a really good cause.

Sarah continued: “This is the first year we have used Weston park, it's great to be able to use the bandstand as a stage. I'm really excited about this area, it's a great break away from the hustle and bustle in the city centre and the line up is fantastic. We're really pleased to have grannies parlour, Karl Olsen who runs the tent excels himself every year with a new theme and it's for a great cause.”

If a step back in time is your bag then Vintage Underground is the place for you. VintageUnderground@Tramlines is a collaboration between Sheffield's own party mavericks Club 60, The City Hall and visiting Vintage Fair Judy's Affordable Vintage.

Vintage Underground takes place throughout the day at Sheffield City Hall on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 July – two days of music in a vintage environment. A Vintage fair will take place in the City Hall Ballroom while three stages will provide the music – the Club 60 Main Stage, Nether Edge Cabaret Stage and a Headphone Zone.

The North Bar will host the Vinyl Cafe with a Vinyl fair and Vinyl DJs all day, while in the South Bar is the Club 60 Main Stage with performances from bands including Cuckoo Clocks, Unsung National Heroes and Payroll Union.
