Jamie Oliver presents The Big Feastival with Alex James announces the search for The Big Feastival’s Home Grown Heroes  – five free spaces on offer for the best local food producers and companies.

Jamie Oliver and Alex James are proud to announce their search for five of the best local food producers and small companies in Oxfordshire, each of which will be awarded with one of five free producer spaces at The Big Feastival this September.

Taking place on Alex’s farm on 1st and 2nd September 2012 to raise awareness and funds for The Jamie Oliver Foundation, The Big Feastival’s Home Grown Heroes  is a great opportunity for the winning small producers and companies to showcase themselves alongside pop-up restaurants from Barbecoa, Jamie’s Italian, Byron, Best Street Food award-winners Café Mor, Brindian Roast Bar and Piglet’s Pantry plus appearances from top chefs such as Theo Randall, Simon Rogan, Bruno Loubet, Valentine Warner and Gennaro Contaldo

In order to be considered for this fantastic opportunity, entrants must complete an application form available via http://www.jamieoliver.com/thebigfeastival/homegrownheroes/ detailing their product and business by 27th July 2012. The top 10 entries will then be submitted to a select judging panel including Alex James and Jamie Oliver with the five winning companies announced on 3rd August. All entrants must be located within a 30 mile radius of the festival site which is in Kingham, Oxfordshire.

In addition to the five free 2m x 2m spaces awarded through The Big Feastival’s Home Grown Heroes, The Big Feastival is also offering all local businesses within a 30 mile radius of the festival site, small producer and exhibitor spaces at a 40% discount:

Small Producers     2m x 2m space £390 (instead of £650)

                             3m x 2m space £500 (instead of £850)

Exhibitor                3m x 3m space £1350 (instead of £2250)

Alex James comments: “I’m very happy to welcome such a great event as The Big Feastival to my farm. As a local producer myself I’m particularly excited to host a festival that not only involves the local community, but also supports Jamie’s foundation. Oxfordshire has such a rich food scene so it will be wonderful to champion all it has to offer.”

Alongside all of the delicious food at The Big Feastival, guests will also be able to enjoy a host of music and children’s entertainment appearances over the two-day festival. Building on the success of the debut The Big Feastival event held in London in 2011, Jamie Oliver is taking the event to a rural location this summer which will mean more space and the opportunity to camp. On the music front there will be headlining performances from Paloma Faith and Texas bringing some high-voltage glamour and vocals to The Big Feastival fields as well as sets from Razorlight, Sister Sledge and Guillemots. There will also be a wide range of wonderful activities for all the family such as circus skills, story-telling, fete games, a gardening area,  pottery classes ensuring and theatre workshops.
