A feast of food and music for all the family, Jamie Oliver presents The Big Feastival with Alex James will take place September 1st and 2nd on Alex’s farm in Kingham, Oxfordshire. Gastronomical delights will be devoured by music-loving foodies whilst they listen to a perfect summer festival sound-track of great bands, all in aid of The Jamie Oliver Foundation. With early bird tickets now sold out, The Big Feastival today announces further talent from the food world for the 2012 event.
Joining the host of top chefs giving demos, holding cook-offs and sharing recipes in The Big Kitchen are best-selling author and much loved TV chef Valentine Warner, BBC’s “Two Hungry Italians” Gennaro Contaldo and executive chef of the festival’s local pub and quintessential Cotswold inn, Emily Watkins of The Kingham Plough. Champion of eating seasonally, Warner will share his tips for delicious in-season fare while Contaldo, credited with teaching festival host Jamie Oliver everything he knows about Italian cooking, will impart some of the culinary wisdom that lead a certain young chef to develop some serious cooking credentials of his own. Watkins’ dishes at the village green pub has received numerous accolades since the restaurant opened in 2007 including two AA Rosettes, Cotswolds Life 'Dining Pub of the Year' award twice and, most recently, The Good Pub Guide 'County Dining Pub of the Year' award.
The list of producers and suppliers at The Big Feastival grows with the addition of Tea Vintage, Stainswick Farm and Well Hung Meat. Set up by film set dresser and prop maker Marie Finch, Tea Vintage is a 1940s inspired travelling tea room. The Sanderson familyare the fourth generation of farmers at Stainswick Farm on the Oxfordshire/Wiltshire border and are passionate about creating local, healthy, natural and fully traceable produce including their award-winning rape seed oil. Well Hung Meat started life with owner Geoff selling direct from his farm, now delivering high quality organic meat across the UK through their mail order service, they will be bringing the Well Hung Burger Van to The Big Feastival fields.
Celebrating three of the things closest to both Jamie and Alex’s hearts – food, music and family – in order to raise funds and awareness for The Jamie Oliver Foundation, The Big Feastival promises to be a boutique festival experience in a picturesque English countryside location just 90 mins from London. Two days of tasty grub, awesome music performances, a chilled out vibe and general all-round, family-friendly, fantastic entertainment.
As Jamie says: “When you get great food, great music and the kids are kept busy, beautiful things definitely happen”.
