Never mind muddy fields and unpredictable European weather, Groove Fest is re-designing the way dance music fans spend their summers with an all new and bespoke dance music festival set over 7 days in the Caribbean island of the Dominican Republic at Puerto Plata's premier vacation resort. Taking place between 5th and 12th September 2012, Groove Fest will pair the best house music talents, live artists and bands with the most luxurious beaches and finest facilities for an all-inclusive week in the unparalleled Caribbean sun. Taking over the clubs, bars, outdoor spaces and glistening swimming pools that make up the dreamy resort, Groove Fest will be the festival experience you never forget. One of the many acts playing are No Artificial Colours, so we caught up with them…

No Artificial Colours

How are you? What’s kept you most busy recently?

Were great thanks! We’ve just got back from Miami WMC which was awesome, we had a great few gigs out there and met some great people! Of course we squeezed in some time for the odd party too!

What’s in your name?

Our name basically came as an idea from one of our brothers, we were trying to think of different ideas and he came up with it after seeing it on a Coke bottle! We thought it sounded pretty cool and it stuck!

How did you meet and what draws you to each other?

We actually met through music! Lewis used to run an event a few years back and booked me for it as we played a similar style of music. We became friends and soon we were being booked everywhere together and decided to play together as an alias which then became No Artificial Colours!

Do you each have set jobs in the booth/studio?

Not particularly! We tend to work on things separately and come together as often as possible to finish them / give each others input. The same with DJ’ing really, we always play back to back (1 track each) and we like to add effects etc whilst the other is in the mix!

What makes you unique?

Our sound in itself is quite unique, we have quite a lot of references to 90s garage sounds which is what we grew up with, as well as the odd 80s sounding cut up vocal here and there! Plus no other duo’s hair is quite this good right? Ha!

How’s your year been so far?

Our years been great! Considering our first release was only this time last year, we’ve played at some awesome parties and alongside some great DJs, I don’t think we could have hoped for more! As far as this year goes… Miami has to be our highlight so far!

What’s got you most excited?

We can’t wait for the summer! We have some cool gigs lined up and it’s almost time to hit the festivals and white Isle again this year! And of course just after that…. Groove Fest!

What else you looking forward to?

Well we also run our own label (SinQ Records) and were really excited for some of the release’s we have coming up for that! We’ve got some great artists on board like Max Chapman, Clinton Houlker, Sishi Rosch just to name a few!

What should people expect from you at Groove Fest?

Well we like to shake our sets up! We’ve got a whole mixture of tunes in the bag, we like to throw in the odd classic here in there too so look out for that!
