With only one week to go until London’s Hyde Park opens its gates for one of the most rocking weekends in the music calendar, Live Nation and Hard Rock International today announced the final few acts at Hard Rock Calling 2012 as well as onsite facilities for what will be an incredible weekend of live music. Hard Rock Calling takes place 13-15 July and is headlined by Soundgarden, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band and Paul Simon.
In an exciting addition, US rockers Red White and Blues join the Hard Rock Calling bill. Formed from the ashes of groups Skin and Jagged Edge, the band have recently wowed crowds touring with Whitesnake and Steel Panther. The lineup for the Amex Bandstand and Bella Union stages has also been announced, showcasing some of the best in new music. Indie/ rockabilly outfit Peggy Sue, hotly tipped London indie band Sissy & The Blisters and Leeds group Shields are all confirmed, joined by Drop Out Venus, Danny Shah, Alessi’s Ark, Vukovi, Daytona Lights, Chailo Sim, Turbogeist, Alistair Griffin, Honey Rider, Micro Jupiter, Richard Cowey, Scams and Halfway to New York.
This year sees the return of the Hard Rock Rising stage, where 21 hand-picked, up and coming bands will take to the stage. It is curated by Steven Van Zandt, founding member of The E Street Band, and rockers Fyfe Dangerfield of Guillemots and Starsailor's James Walsh. Additionally, Hard Rock Rising global competition winners Hey Monea will open proceedings on the main stage on Saturday 14 July. Out of 12,000 bands from 86 Hard Rock Café cities across the globe, Hey Monea won the Hard Rock Rising competition to open for Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band at Hard Rock Calling.
