Would you like to be a part of an annual music festival with 70 bands, 7 venues and hundreds of concert go’ers?  Would you like to be part of a team of volunteers that are making it all happen?

Oxjam Islington Takeover 2011 needs your help!  We are looking for volunteers to help us on Saturday, 22nd October, from 2pm onwards, and at venues along Upper Street in Islington (in between Angel and Highbury & Islington tube stations).  If you would like to volunteer on the day, it is a great opportunity to support a local good cause, whether it is for a couple of hours or the whole day. You get free access to all the venues once your shift is over, and you get to meet the bands and be part of a pretty amazing volunteer team, made up of people of all ages, from all across Islington and London.  Oxjam Islington is an easy way to be part of something special. Jobs include:

1. Steward - helping in the venues to ensure smooth running of the event.
2. Festival goer helper - giving out info and guidance to our party goers.
3. Flyer distributors - telling all and sundry about what's going on!
4. Technical support – sound engineers, experienced door staff etc.

We give training and support and are geared up to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all our festival goers, bands and volunteers. We take your safety and security seriously and have worked hard to ensure a safe, fun time for all. And we are also part of the Orange Rock Corp. An amazing national initiative so volunteering with us can be turned into a gig ticket.

We are championing local bands and emerging talent, but we are proud to announce that household name, Tony Christie will be showing us the way to Amarillo by headlining our family friendly venue, The Assembly Hall! The day will be a big mix of musical genres and entertainment, with rock, acoustic, indie, metal, folk, dance and more, including burlesque, jazz dance classes, cover bands and DJs. Top up and coming original acts include Matt Stevens, The Jude and Troubadour Rose. There really is something for everyone.
