Held at the prestigious Camden Roundhouse in London, SONISPHERE took top honours for a stellar line up that included metal royalty the Big 4 (Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax), returning heroes Slipknot and breakthrough headliners Biffy Clyro.
Stuart Galbraith of Festival Promoter Kilimanjaro Live stated:
"Picking up the Line-up Of The Year Awards was a very special moment for everyone involved in Sonisphere. We couldn't have been prouder of this year's festival and having reached the point of selling out in only three years, there’s no doubt that Sonisphere 2011 was one of the best rock bills ever put together in the UK. Being able to bring the Big 4 to the UK and team them up with Slipknot and Biffy Clyro was fantastic and the booking team at Sonipshere HQ did a brilliant job in pulling the huge bill together. Special thanks also to the fans who made the event into a festival, creating a fantastic atmosphere and for all the positive feedback and encouragement. Watch this space for exciting 2012 news coming very soon”
Sonisphere creator, John Jackson, says “I echo what Stuart says and wish to recognize the brilliant support of my team at K2. I was especially pleased that my idea of booking Bill Bailey was received as "a stroke of genius" but the highlight has to be the 2 minute silence as tribute to my friend Paul Gray.”
SONISPHERE 2012 will take place July 6th - 8th at KNEBWORTH. Tickets are on sale.
Band quotes on Sonisphere:
"We were waiting this whole tour to say this. Hello Knebworth. How the fuck are you crazy English bastards doing today? This is not a night for negativity, it's a night for positivity. It's a celebration." Corey Taylor, Slipknot
"It was amazing. Nothing else compares to it," Winston McCall, Parkway Drive
"You guys stole my heart today. I definitely didn't play my best (adrenalin, nerves etc) but I know how lucky I am to have such amazing people share such incredible experiences alongside me and my brothers," Dave McPherson, Inme
"It was EPIC!!!! Biffy rocked mightily, Mastodon a towering vortex of sound , Slipknot a colossal tornado of mask-based metalising and for me, the sight of many thousand metal fans dancing to my Rammstein re-invention of Scarborough Fair will stay with me for ever. Can't wait for Sonis 2012 End Of the World!" Bill Bailey
"My dad just texted me saying he watched me on stage on the webcast and said 'we killed it, oh and nice socks!!" Brann Dailor, Mastodon
