Sounds From the Other City festival is a one day celebration of music and performance, uniting the cream of the national and international scene with some of the city’s finest independent promotors, collectives and club nights. Mind on Fire Collective, Now Wave, Faktion, Comfortable on a Tightrope and Hey! Manchester are amongst the  brave bunch hosting stages at this year’s extravaganza which takes over Chapel Street from 3pm to midnight on Sunday, May 6th.

Venues taking part include proper old pubs such as The Crescent, The Old Pint Pot and The Rover Returns, to the beautiful St Philips and Sacred Trinity Churches, as well as the inimitable Islington Mill and whole host of other spaces!

Salford’s finest festival of new music, Sounds From the Other City, returns for the 8th time on Bank Holiday Sunday 6th May with its freshest line up yet. For 2012, established Manchester promoters like Faktion (who’ve put on Demdike Stare, Blackest Ever Black label showcase), Now Wave (Sleigh Bells, the XX, Money, Alt-J) and Hey! Manchester (Jens Lekman, Momus, Steve Reich) will be joined by indie tastemakers, Drowned in Sound, to present a huge array of talent on 14 stages, including Swedish ice princess, MOLLY NILSSON, Kompakt records WALLS, Wire magazine favourites EKOPLEKZ, queer super group COVERGIRL and the beat-driven deluge of Ghostly International’s (Dabrye, Matthew Dear) SHIGETO.

Critically acclaimed and insanely good fun, SFTOC is a celebration of the finest in new music and performance, for just £18.
