Sports Relief Finalists Confirmed As A Headliner For Eden FestivalComedy dance trio The Cuban Brothers have been confirmed as one of the headliners for this summer’s Eden Festival. The Havana inspired act are famed for their anarchic dance routines and irreverent comedy style.
They recently reached the BBC Sports Relief Finals where they performed a Bee Gee’s classic alongside Olympic gold medallist Fatima Whitbread.
Sally Campbell who is the Artistic Director for the Eden Festival commented “The Cuban Brothers are a much loved act within the music industry, they have performed at most of the major U.K festivals and are in constant demand for television appearances. We are delighted to have secured them as one of the acts to head up the 2012 Eden Festival billing.”
Other significant acts confirmed for the June celebration of art and music include Dub Pistols Soundsystem, The Peatbog Faeries and Skerryvore.
The Dub Pistols are London based performers who offer up a Hip Hop Ska fusion. They have mixed and performed with some of the biggest names in the music industry including the legendary Busta Rhymes. Younger music fans will also recognise a number of Dub Pistol tracks which have featured on several X Box and PlayStation 2 video games.
A more traditional sound can be expected from The Peatbog Faeries, hailing from The Isle Of Skye, they are no strangers to the festival circuit and have recently been nominated for best live act at the BBC radio 2 folk awards.
Another island based act comes in the form of Skerryvore. Originating from Tiree, the six piece band cleverly combines Scottish Roots music alongside Urban Rock and Funk. When asked about their Eden appearance accordionist Daniel Gillespie said “We are thrilled to be performing at this event and look forward to giving the festival goers a special preview of tracks from our new album.”
Meredith Langley Vine who oversees production for the event commented “Eden is a three day arts and music festival. The eclectic billing reflects the diverse nature of our boutique event. For those who have not been to Eden before it is characterised by a laidback atmosphere and a huge range of performance acts from Burlesque through to Balkan Gypsy and Electronica.”
The fourth Eden Festival takes place just off the M74 and is situated on Victorian style parkland at Raehills Meadow between the towns of Dumfries and Moffat. Main gates will swing open to the public on the 15th June and will run over three days finishing on the 17th.
