Festivals For All favourite The Acoustic Festival of Britain returns to Uttoxeter Racecourse 25th-27th May 2012 for another year of acoustic music at its finest.

For those of you lucky enough to have attended this excellent event before, you won't need FFA to tell you what a great festival it is, or indeed what the word ‘Acoustic’ in the title actually means in the context of the event. For the novices – there is an FFA review of the 2011 festival HERE which provides a fair indication of the good times and high quality and value you can expect.

So, 'Acoustic Festival' … well yes, it’s a ‘Festival’, but what’s all this ‘Acoustic’ malarkey you may ask? ….. The Acoustic Fest features all kinds of musical genres, and yes, the music is amplified, and you will hear electric guitars, but the music is ‘stripped down’, and presented as it was actually composed, with effects and electronic wizardry kept to a minimum. Think MTV’s Live & Unplugged sessions and you will not go far wrong. For many acts this provides a completely different dimension to the music, and allows the artist, and the audience, to explore previously undiscovered facets to the music. This presentation is a great voyage of discovery, even if you think you know the artists material well. As an example, FFA were blown away by the normally ‘loud & proud’ Quireboys last year, where the intricacy and quality of their work really shone through when played in an acoustic setting. A real eye opener; and just one of many.

Uttoxeter Racecourse is an ideal venue for the event, and the camping and facilities are first class. We are talking flushing loo’s and hot showers here. The festival offers four stages of unplugged and acoustic music covering live folk, rock, blues, guitar, country, bluegrass and a few legends. You can look forward to artists of the calibre of Joan Armatrading, John Cooper Clarke, The Animals, Glenn Tilbrook, Katrina (Ex & The Waves), Danny and Ben from THUNDER, Uli Jon Roth, The Move, Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams and many more.

Late News Just In: TRACIE HUNTER and her blues band (yes, the daughter of Ian Hunter!) will be playing the main stage Friday afternoon.
