The fencing is up, the portaloo’s are installed, a sandy carpet has been laid and the stage builds have begun… There are 2 days to go until the first, in what is hoped to be, a long and prosperous succession of BIG BEACH BALL FESTIVALS! As things heat up down at the Aberdeen Beach Ballroom, organisers announce the running orders and remind us of what is in store for Aberdeen Beach Ballroom.
The bill for the festival features over 40 local and international acts, including a headline DJ set from FRIENDLY FIRES, alongside DERRICK CARTER, SLAM, BWANI JUNCTION, TIGER & WOODS, THE LITTLE KICKS, FRIDGE MAGNETS, BIG FOOT’S TEAPARTY, ONEMAN and MUNGO’S HIâ€FI among others. Spread across 5 stages, an outdoor quarter, a cider garden, Red Bull Event Truck and a vintage and craft market hosted by local designers, artists and jewellery makers; the one day festival hopes to be a one day spectacular that offers something for everyone.
The event features Fridge Magnets and Mungo’s Hiâ€Fi †2 of the nominees for the Scottish Album of The Year Prize, billed as the Scottish equivalent of the prestigious Mercury Music Prize. Fridge Magnets are due on the main stage at 3.45pm, while Mungo’s Hiâ€Fi take to the DSR Audio stage at 7.30pm.

Talking from the site today, one of the organisers, Claire Clark said “Excited is an understatement, the main stage is getting built as we speak, and it’s look pretty spectacular! It’s going to be a really unique experience across the board, which I reckon will wow the crowds regardless of what kind of music you like. It’s definitely going to be a visual and audio treat!”
Music programmer George Russell said “I’m really happy with the way things are coming together, I can’t wait until we open the gates at 1pm on Sunday! Come rain or shine we are open, there’s plenty for people to see and do both inside and outside on the site.”
