Staines' most famous export Hard-Fi will provide Bingley with their clash-tinted, soul and dance infused blend of indie this summer.Richard Archer and co broke all the records upon their arrival into the scene in 2006, with a refreshing energy and purpose. A lyrical honesty that struck a chord with a society defined by 9-5 monotony. With new album Killer Sounds still fresh in the ears, they are an act that is guaranteed to get Bingley Music Live pogoing right from the front row to the very back.
Hard-Fi achieved incredible chart success with their third single, “Hard to Beat” and then followed by other successful singles such as “Cash Machine” and “Living for the Weekend”, which all reached top 15 in the UK Singles Chart. Their debut album Stars of CCTV was released on 4 July 2005, and although receiving critical acclaim (NME called it album of the year and was nominated for the Mercury Prize and two BRIT Awards, Best British Group and Best British Rock Act), it didn’t reach #1 in the UK albums chart until six months later on 22 January 2006.
The band were the most played artist on Radio 1 in 2006, and sold out Brixton Academy for a record breaking five nights. The band’s second album, Once Upon a Time in the West, was released on 3 September 2007 and reached number 1 in its first week. Now, back with new album Killer Sounds, Hard FI are as relevant as ever, with Archers unique talent to speak for the under-represented working man.
