Children and parents alike are in for a real treat at this summer’s Stockton Weekender on Fri 3 – Sun 5 Aug, as organisers Tees Music Alliance (TMA) announce a whole host of children’s activities.

With a music line up featuring James, The Pogues, Willy Mason, We Are Scientists, The Go! Team, Simon & Oscar (Ocean Colour Scene Acoustic), Jake Bugg and comedy from Alun Cochrane, The New Rope String Band and Hoist The Rag, adults are set to be well and truly entertained throughout the Weekend.

Last year saw the introduction of the children activity hub The Kaleidoscope Tent, which went down a storm with parents and children who took in the drama, arts and magic on offer.

This year it’s back with a vengeance, filled to the brim with creative and fun activities for kids, big and small.

With every adult ticket allowing free entrance for two Under 14s, the tent offers the ideal break away for young festivalgoers to sample a range of arty and musical activities, as well as giant games and beanbags.

Locally based Apollo Arts will be providing lessons in Singing, Dancing, Festival Arts and Filmmaking; where participants become roving reporters for the Weekender, interviewing audience members on their experience of the festival.

The tent will also host a Drumming workshop, Drama, a Bad Art workshop with Peg Powler Gallery and a beginners Song Writing workshop with Tees Active Cabaret Tent performer Dan Donnelly.

A family tent wouldn’t be complete without the chance to turn yourself into a tiger, butterfly or a Dalmatian! Our face painters will be around during tent opening times for all your facial design needs.

All of this activity is free of charge and will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

Ticket prices are £20 a day or £30 for the Weekend, but will be more on the day. As last year each adult ticket entitles the holder to 2 free Under 14s tickets.
