The Magic Loungeabout returns for its third year with an inspiring programme of music and arts at the end of July, and is celebrating an Arts Council bid win which will add a wealth of new family-led entertainment to the festival.
With an already packed programme of arts and culture planned for The Magic Loungeabout, the Arts Council funding takes it to a whole new level for a festival of its intimate size, offering an array of new talent as well as transforming Broughton Hall itself! Simon Adamson, the festival’s founder, says, “We are over the moon that the Arts Council have accepted our bid. This adds a totally different dimension to what we already had programmed, and I now feel we are offering a dazzling weekend of entertainment for everyone which is unique in the region for an event of our size.”
Each night at the festival, Broughton Hall will be illuminated like it has never been before, covered in spectacular video mapping like the Jubilee celebrations across Buckingham Palace. With three different headliners each night, expect three different light shows to enthral and entrance; Friday night may yet have the biggest disco ball in the country!
There’s also a magical musical romp through Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland, with original songs, dancing, puppets and everyone’s favourite characters. Sneaky Experience offers carefully curated film happenings for all ages with actors recreating scenes from the films themselves. A dressing up box is also provided for those who want to truly immerse themselves in the film being shown. Why not try out the worlds smallest theatre from The Blue Whale or talk to the Wise Birds who regale with “tails” of places they've visited with wise and not so wise advice for the weekend ahead, whilst The Heavenly Court of Madame Fantaisiste is an interactive piece that includes The Rogue, The Joker and The Fool who cavort in the faded opulence of their luxuriant boudoir, inviting Loungers to partake in their courtly games and dances.
Hodman and Sally are two interactive puppets will be walking around the site all weekend. They are two tiny backpackers from the country of Oblivia. Also meet Wobulous Discombobulous at the Suitcase Circus, the anarchic sock who presents a line up of extraordinary talented performing objects from a daredevil ski glove, a dancing milkshake straw and the hypnotic tie snake called Windsor Knot. The Tailcoat Cabaret gives you a more adult version of the mad anarchic sock, but this time with new friends Madame Teapot the 'stainless steel diva' and Limbardo the fearless Italian driving glove. The Bee Detective evokes the sights and sounds of a hive through inventive new technology capturing for deaf and hearing families. This show encourages the audiences to play detective and discover why bees are under threat.
Then there’s Dangerous Dave. He's actually more daft than dangerous. Dave has a sidekick called Herbert Lemon. Marvel as Dave fights his way out of a paper bag and plunges himself into a domestic food processor. And finally, Bearded Kitten will be adding even more fun and games to The Magic Loungeabout, including Human Sheep Herding, Knur and Spell and Conker Cuddling and much more!
