A TRIBUTE to MARTIN RUSHENT
For those of you that don't know, on 4th June legendary music producer Martin Rushent (Human League, The Stranglers, The Buzzcocks, Fleetwood Mac) passed away.
This year's festival is dedicated to him and throughout the festival there will be performances dedicated to him by a host of friends and bands he worked with all paying tribute to the great man.
His son James Rushent of Does It Offend You, Yeah? and Killa Kella, who’s Reveal Your Inner Self track was produced by the father and son team, will lead the tributes with a DJ set in his honour and the 'Dubai Retrospective' DJ set that Martin was to perform will be taken over by Martin's nearest and dearest. Martin's niece Laura Richardson has organised fundraising collections for a charity that Martin Rushent actively supported, Action for Children and will be collecting donations throughout the festival. There will be buckets available should you want to donate your spare change to a very worthy cause.
Saturday 23rd July Does it Offend You, Yeah? will be playing an exclusive DJ set at The Oakford Social Club.
Saturday 30th July - 12 midday to 5pm: Alternative Culture Stage cinema will be showing documentaries on Martin's teachings and production work with various bands.
Saturday 30th July will also feature a set by Killa Kella and Trip dedicated to Martin Rushent at 5pm, followed at 6pm-7.30pm by Martin Rushent's 'Dubai Retrospect' set performed by friends and family at the Penta Hotel.
CHANGES TO LINE-UP as ANDY C and LEE SCRATCH PERRY CANCEL FESTIVAL DATES.
It is with regret that the organisers of Reading, Berkshire based outside:inside Pop up Festival announce that Andy C and Lee Scratch Perry have had to pull out of their festival dates.
Unfortunately, pioneering drum n bass DJ and co-founder of RAM Recording Studio, Andy C has had to cancel out due to recording commitments making it impossible for him to play the Sub89 show on Thursday 21st July in what has so far been a brilliant month of live music and arts. The show will go ahead with DJ Hype at the revised price of £8.50. The difference will be refunded on any tickets purchased in advance.
Jamaican dub reggae legend Lee Scratch Perry has pulled out due to unforeseen circumstances and will no longer be performing at Sub89 on 24th July, due to this the show has now been cancelled with support act Dub Pistols also being taken off the bill and full refunds will be given.
"The Outside Inside festival organisers would like to apologise to any fans who bought tickets for the shows. We are disappointed about losing Andy C and Lee Scratch Perry we still feel we have a strong line-up and are looking to the rest of the festival."
