Now in its sixth year, Field Day takes place this weekend delivering a celebration of village life to the East End of London, combined with one of the best line ups you will see this summer, not to mention great food from Clapham Common’s Vine Street Market.
The Village Green will allow festival goers to enjoy country pastimes and a wonderful selection of fete games including: Blindfold Sweetcorn Husking Championship, Scone Throwing, Vegetable Discus, Human Wheelbarrow and of course the Tug of War. As you would expect at a village fete there will be traditional stalls with tombola’s, bash the rat etc.
There are seven stages which celebrate some of the best DJ’s and live music you could ever want to see, including Franz Ferdinand, Metronomy, The Vaccines, Spector, Django Django, Tim Burgess, Casper C, SBTRKT to name but a few see full line up.
The biggest challenge is to decide who not to see! If that wasn’t enough there will be a brass band performing a selection of classics.
The Venn Street Market will include a fantastic range of food including, Hog Roast from Clapham’s award winning butcher Moen & Sons; Portena’s traditional Argentine Empanadas and Chipa Cheese dough balls with Chimichurri Sauce; Yam the Cassava’s amazing authentic Creole Fish Cakes and Banana Fritters; Popina’s and Sweet’s freshly baked artisan sweet and savoury pastries, cakes and other treats; prize winning Vietnamese coffee from Ca Phe VN – and if that wasn’t enough, The Coconut King will be bringing fresh coconuts to eat and drink all day long - simply couldn’t be tastier!
