Solfest are delighted to announce the final list of acts playing the main stage for 2012. 

Still basking in the success of selling out all their early bird tickets in record time, Cumbria’s biggest, brightest and best music and arts festival, Solfest is delighted to announce the second wave of headline bookings for Solfest 2012. 

Booked for the mainstage are Celtic rock behemoths The Waterboys, led by the inimitable Mike Scott. Since forming in 1983 The Waterboys have continued to steadfastly plough their own musical furrow, from their ‘Big Music’ of the 80s through their folky period on the hugely successful Fisherman’s Blues and Room To Roam albums to today’s more rock’n’roll driven sound. 

Throughout it all Mike Scott has led the band from the front, avoided cliché, trends and musical fashions instead doing exactly as he feels musically, regardless of the wiles of the music business. The latest album from The Waterboys sees Scott and company reinterpret, musically, the poems of Irishman WB Yeats. 

Also appearing on Solfest’s  mainstage are Saint Jude. Their incendiary musical collision of rock and soul has seen the London-based five-piece gain fans as famous as Ronnie Wood and Jimmy Page. After hearing the jaw-dropping vocal talents of soul diva Lynne Jackaman the band’s frontwoman, you’ll realise why the band has been hotly tipped as the next big thing. 

Young Scottish singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt will also appear. The diminutive singer rumoured to be dating Ed Sheeran, has already gained Radio 1 airplay, topped the iTunes singer-songwriter chart, and toured Europe – and all before her eighteenth birthday. 

Dark psych-folk four-piece Strangefruit also appear. They include brothers Jamie and Peter Perrett, who previously were part of the infamous Babyshambles and are sons of Pete Perrett (senior), frontman of iconic new-wave band The Only Ones. The London-based four-piece are fronted by the charismatic singer, pianist and violin player Jenny Maxwell. 

Cumbria and the North East’s most famous contemporary folk band Tarras will also grace the mainstage. The six-piece have recently reformed and released a new album, Warn The Waters, which carries on where their previous award-winning debut album left off. 

Those also appearing on the mainstage include Manchester’s quirky indie-rock band Louis Barabbas and the Bedlam Six, Bristol-based blues, funk and rock fusion six-piece Yes Sir Boss, Penrith based Fiona Clayton Band and the fabulous acoustic three-piece West Cumbria trio Kitchie Wud. 

As in previous years Solfest has endeavoured to compile a richly varied and top class line-up that includes both the contemporary and the classic of the music world and ranges from rock to roots and folk to dance.

2012 promises to deliver the best festival experience in Solfest’s nine-year history. Whatever your particular musical taste Solfest 2012 has something guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

Adult tickets: Standard (17+) £95

Young People Tickets (12-16) £65

Child Tickets Standard (6-11) £25

Babies and Toddlers (0-5) £0 – you still need a ticket though.

Thursday camping £10 – per vehicle 

Please note that Young People tickets can only be purchased with at least one Adult ticket!
