Never one to rest on it's laurels, the Willowman Festival has laid on a basketful of activities for it's attendees this year. A 1950's style funfair for children will add a touch of post war nostalgia to the colourful festival surroundings. For those looking for a more hands on experience, they can try their skills at willow weaving and assist in building a Kundalini structure which will be torched at 8pm on the Sunday evening. People are encouraged to place their hopes in dreams in this structure for the symbolic burning aimed at bringing good luck to the festival audience.

David Bowie fans will also be in for a rare treat at the Thursday night Ziggy Stardust party where the entire Ziggy Stardust and the spiders from Mars album will be performed in it's entirety by the tribute act called Ultimate Bowie. The album is regarded as a seminal moment for David Bowie in his early career and helped establish him as an international icon. Attendees on the Thursday night have also been encouraged to don capes and costumes for the fancy dress theme of stars and space travel which is tribute to David Bowie and a nod to the latest Star Wars block buster.

Given the action packed nature of this North Yorkshire based festival the organisers have also laid on Turkish steam rooms and chill out beds to re-energise any weary revellers. Attention to detail has also been paid to the alcoholic refreshments being served in the Willowman Arms which doubles up as a bar and indoor stage, The Force and Lite Sabre ales will be on tap from revolutions brewery as will some music inspired beverages called Twist & Crawl and Here Comes The Summer. A hall of mirrors , trick Sherpa cyclists and walkabout festival Fairies will add to the jamboree feel of this event which has gained a reputation as being family friendly with an attention to detail. Event organiser Steve Williams said “In the seven years since we first launched the festival we have built up a loyal well behaved audience who are looking for a long weekend of relaxation and listening to some hand picked musical acts, we appreciate the audience we get a strive to improve and tweak the festival every year.”

Whilst the Willowman masses are reassured to hear that they can indulge in fun activities they are of course in attendance to hear a selection of carefully balanced music, the event is being headlined by The Undertones, Stereo Mc's and The Beat. The old school mix of punk, ska and hip hop is typical of previous line up's which cater to an audience who appreciate the mix of familiar long established acts and festival newbies who pepper the under bill and smaller stages.

Other acts such as reggae stars Misty in Roots and jazz funksters James Taylor Quartet will ensure that the 2016 Willowan retains it's eclectic reputation.
