Worcester Music Festival 2015 Overview

Worcester Music Festival 2015 returns at the later date of 18-20 September. A few weeks on from the usual date at the end of August, the annual free festival will coincide with Fresher’s Week at the University of Worcester.

The festival is an annual, three-day celebration of live, original music, primarily that of Worcester and county-based musicians, but also that of under-the-radar talent from across the UK.

Around 1,200 acts applied to play in 2014, with 250 acts being picked to perform at festival venues, from pubs, clubs and cafes to historic buildings, record shops and on the streets.

Worcester Music Festival is an annual event started in 2008 to support and encourage live, local and original music in Worcester and is staged in pubs, clubs, cafes, and historic buildings around or near the city centre.

The Festival is a non-profit making event run by an enthusiastic team of volunteers, largely local musicians or people associated with the Worcester music scene.  Not only does it provide a showcase for local musical talent of all genres, but it provides education and professional development opportunities through a variety of workshops and clinics.

Each year the Festival supports different local charities selected from a list of nominations. Money for the nominated charities is raised by way of a raffle, donations, collection buckets at the venues and merchandising sales.
